Product Description
HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) is a high-performance elastomer produced by hydrogenating standard NBR (Nitrile Rubber). This process enhances its resistance to heat, ozone, chemicals, and abrasion while retaining excellent mechanical properties. HNBR is widely used in demanding environments due to its superior balance of durability, flexibility, and resistance to extreme conditions. Its key attributes include exceptional thermal stability (up to 150°C/302°F), strong resistance to oils and fuels, and improved aging characteristics compared to conventional NBR. These properties make it ideal for critical sealing applications across industries such as automotive, oil and gas, and aerospace.
Performance Attribute | Industry Applications | Key Characteristics |
---|---|---|
Thermal Resistance | Automotive engines, aerospace components, industrial machinery | Operates in temperatures from -40°C to 160°C (-40°F to 320°F); resists thermal degradation and aging. |
Chemical/Oil Resistance | Oil & gas drilling equipment, fuel systems, hydraulic seals | Excellent resistance to oils, fuels, acids, and chemicals; minimal swelling in harsh fluids. |
Mechanical Strength | Dynamic seals, O-rings, gaskets, belts | High tensile strength (20-30 MPa) and elongation (200-400%); resists wear and abrasion. |
Ozone/Weather Resistance | Outdoor equipment, electrical connectors, HVAC systems | Withstands UV exposure, ozone, and weathering; maintains flexibility in outdoor environments. |
Compression Set Resistance | Static seals, vibration dampeners, pump components | Low compression set (15-25% at 150°C) ensures long-term sealing efficiency under pressure. |
Dynamic Performance | Automotive timing belts, rotary shafts, industrial hoses | Retains elasticity and fatigue resistance under cyclic stress; ideal |
